Outdoor Gardening

Spring has sprung and the vegetable gardens are being prepared for planting.  On Wednesday 14 April we went to the outdoor garden with Mrs. Smith.  We prepared three raised beds and then we learned how to properly plant asparagus.  When we were finished with that, we continued to prepare additional vegetable beds.  We raked, hoed and weeded the beds.  Mrs. Turner and Amiracle carted off all of the debris in the wheelbarrow.  We had a great time and we also learned alot.  Mrs. Smith told Mrs. Turner on Friday 23 April that our asparagus had sprouted.....we can't wait....yum, yum!

Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow

Can you believe it??!!?? Mr. Cooke's pony tail is NO longer.......there that is.....
Congratulations to Mrs. Moyse's 5th grade class for raising the most money for a great cause. One student in her class had the honor of cutting Mr. Cooke's hair! Our class raised $367 in the race to cut Mr. Cooke's hair. All in all approximately $5,000.00 was raised for Relay for Life. Mr. Cooke's pony tail was donated to Locks of Love. It was a win/win situation.

The "Yolks" on Mr. Carrier

All the students were "egg"cited during our CRCT pep rally on Friday 16 April. Mrs. Bowling's class and Mrs. Johnson's class not only won the box top race, but they also won the right to egg Mr. Carrier. Mr. Carrier was a good egg and allowed the faculty and staff to throw eggs at him after the students were through. A whopping 190 eggs were tossed at Mr. Carrier! I must say that very few eggs missed the mark.

Historical Figures

Third Grade Social Studies standards dictate that third grade students learn about several historical figures. As the students learned about these people and their contributions to the history of the United States, we also discussed their character traits---diligence, perseverance, tolerance, honest, justice, respect for authority, liberty and cooperation. To demonstrate the knowledge the students garnered from their studies, they each completed a Cereal Box Report.
