During our study of the earth's layers, the students were given the opportunity to create a model of the earth's layers using different colors of clay. The students began with a ball of yellow. They then added green, red, and blue clay to help distinguish the different layers. After they completed their model, the students then labeled the layers and added the thickness (in kilometers).
